Head Coach - Chad Dennis

Coach Dennis is a 1991 graduate of Fairfield High School where he was a 3X League Champion, 2X Sectional Champ, District Champ, and Tri-Captain. He was also a two time state placer (5th & 2nd), compiling an 89-20-1 record.  

He attended The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga on a wrestling scholarship where he was a 4 year starter, 3 year Team Captain, 2X NCAA Qualifier, 2X Conference Champ, North Carolina Open Champ, 2X Southern Illinois Open Champ, and ranked 12th in the NCAA. Coach Dennis was also named All-American at the 1994 University Greco-Roman Nationals. His 4 year record at UTC was an astounding 100-40.

Coach Dennis enters his 20th season as a Head Coach, his 18th at Harrison. At Harrison he has coached 38 State Qualifiers, 14 State Placers, 1 State Champion, 16 League Championship teams, 6 Sectional Championship teams, 1 District Championship team, and a 5th place at the Ohio State Dual Tournament. His combined dual meet record is 225-75-1. Coach Dennis has been the Head Coach of the Ohio Cadet Greco-Roman National Team from 1992 – 2001.  He is also a USA Wrestling Bronze level certified coach. He has served as a clinician in the Cincinnati Freestyle Club and is the founder of the Cornhusker Wrestling Club. Coach Dennis was recognized as Cincinnati Enquirer 2009 coach of the year.

Assistant Coach - Chris Baird

Assistant Coach - Chris Baird

Coach Baird is a 1989 graduate of Milford High School. Coach Baird went to the University of Findlay to continue his wrestling career for the Roughnecks under Coach John Jeffire. At Findlay, Coach Baird competed against Leningrad Legstaff Institute, in a USA Wrestling cultural exchange with the U.S.S.R. He also was involved in training sessions with the Turkish National Team, and the Sri Lankan National Team.

Mr. Baird is in his 20th year coaching wrestling, his 18th at Harrison. Mr. Baird has also been a Clinician & Team Leader for The Cincinnati Freestyle Club, and served as an Assistant Coach on the Ohio Cadet Greco-Roman and Freestyle Team in 1998. He now also serves as a coach in the Cornhusker Wrestling Club. Coach Baird is a USA Wrestling Bronze certified coach.

Mr. Baird lives in Harrison with his wife, Renee and their four children, Cody, Cory, Cameron & Caiden. Mr. Baird teaches Freshman American/World History and is the Social Studies Department Chair at Harrison High School. Coach Baird can be reached via e-mail at chris.baird@southwestschools.org

Assistant Coach - Eric Meyer

Assistant Coach - Eric Meyer

Coach Meyer was a 2006 graduate of Oak Hills High School where he was a two year captain and obtained two sectional championships, a district championship, and two state placements (7th and 3rd). He also competed on Team Ohio National Team for Freestyle and Greco Roman after winning a state championship in both styles (2005).  He then attended the College of Mount St. Joseph, where he was a four year starter and three year captain. He was a 3x Academic All-American, 3x Conference champion, and compiled the most career wins in school history (133). Coach Meyer graduated Cum Laude with a degree in History and a certification to teach secondary education.

Jim Wandsnider - Assistant Coach

Head Freshman Coach - Ashton Brown

Coach Brown is a 2009 graduate of Eastwood High School where he set the records for single season wins and single season pins while placing 6th in the state.

 

He attended the University of Findlay where he was a 3 year starter.  He was a 2x Regional Tournament Placer, GLIAC champion, and a 3x Academic All-American.

 

Coach Brown is in his third year teaching and coaching at Harrison High School and teaches Algebra 2 and Math Applications.

Head Freshman Coach - Ryan Carroll

Volunteer Coach - Ryan Carroll

Coach Carroll grew up in Cincinnati and attended Saint Xavier High School where he was a four year varsity starter for the Bombers.  His career was capped after three times qualifying for the state tournament with a third place finish.  

Coach Carroll attended Purdue University where he wrestled for two years and received a Bachelor's degree in  English and then received his Master's in education from the Ohio State University.

Starting in college, Carroll has coached various teams and levels from Junior high through high school with his most recent position as the head coach of Turpin High School.  

Coach Carroll and his wife Cathie are both teachers in the Southwest District and they live with their daughters, Ripley and Harper, in Ross.  Coach Carroll teaches English at Harrison High School and can be reached at ryan.carroll@southwestschools.org

Harrison Wrestling

Volunteer Coach - Mike Strassell

Mike is a 1998 graduate of Harrison High School. Mike was a 3 year starter on the football and wrestling teams while at WHHHS. He was an All District performer on the gridiron for the Wildcats. Mike was a2X Queen City Conference Champion, 2X District Qualifier, and State Qualifier at heavyweight for the Wildcat wrestling team.

Mike went on to Thomas More College where he majored in Chemistry. He continued his football career where he was a 2X NCAA III All American Lineman for the Saints football program.

Mike is currently working as a Senior Data Coordinator for Medpace, Inc. This will Mike's 10th year coaching wrestling at WHHHS.
